What the buying committee actually pays
Oyster sells products, not HRIS seats. USD 29 per contractor/month is its only published recurring per-head platform rate; EOR at USD 699 is full legal employment rather than an HRIS seat and sits outside the PEPM band. Annual discounts on EOR are offered but not priced on the page. The ledger applies a default 12% annual renewal uplift unless the buyer caps it in the MSA - our own central modelling assumption, adjustable on the renewal-uplift page, not a vendor-published rate.
Is there a free Oyster HRIS tier?
Not on the published pricing page. Oyster publishes no free plan and no standalone HRIS rate. What the page does say is that it is free to create an account and explore the platform, and that the Oyster fee starts once you engage a contractor, an EOR team member or a payroll team member. Any figure describing a free HRIS up to a given headcount is retired.
What does Oyster EOR cost per employee?

How does contractor pricing work?
Global Contractors is free for 30 days, then USD 29 per contractor/month. That covers instant contracts in 180+ countries, contractor payments in 120+ currencies, in-app identity verification, and invoice and expense management. Oyster Shell is a separate add-on subscription carrying misclassification protection up to USD $500,000 in aggregate.
What additional lines does Oyster publish?
People Services, described as white glove HR advice, is USD 300 per hour. Benefits packages, visa sponsorship, salary insights and People Partner Services are listed as add-ons with no published price. Startups can save up to $1,200 on EOR subscription fees under Oyster's startup offer, and certified nonprofits and B Corps can apply for Oyster for Impact discounts.
When does Oyster beat Deel or Remote.com?
Not on EOR list price. Remote publishes the same USD 699 headline and Deel undercuts both at $599 per EOR employee per month, so Oyster is the most expensive of the three on published EOR. The case for Oyster is its European coverage and B Corp positioning rather than its rate card.
